| "....a sumptuous production, beautifully staged."
The Guido of Antonello Caboni was strong full of sexual tension and very well acted. His first leading lady Claudia (Friesia Schuil) made sure she was never forgotten. His wife Luisa (Elinor Morgan Jones) gave a very calm performance seeing her husband for who and what he is. Well sung and convincing . Carla (Chrissy Quinn) poured sex across the stage we needed a warning with this part...Mamma (Deborah Gibson) gave a formidable performance. The Guido of earlier years was very well acted by Alex Hayter.
The direction by Will Howard was very well thought out and having seen other productions where the story line had been compromised, Will ensured this was not the case and provided just the right amount of tension through out. The choreography of Ben Fuiava never falls to win. Taking account of the shape of the stage and the levels, the small company had great visual effect allowing the movement to shine. Bravo Jon Wade, who’s musical direction and control of this large orchestra in such a small space was magnificent.
